I was driving to school this morning. Hattie was in trouble for pitching many fits before we even got in the car. The tv and radio was shut off to give her some quiet time. While I was driving in silence, a very rare moment, I was worrying about Lydda and her adoption. I was worrying about how we are going to be able to do it. Then I heard it, "Don't worry, remember Gideon." I held my breath and there it was again, "Don't worry, remember Gideon." I started thinking about Gideon and how he applies to our adoption.

You see, Gideon was chosen by God to lead the Isrealite army against the Midianites. The Midianite army was great in number. Gideon called his men to come forward to fight and 32,000 men showed up. God said it was too many, even though it was much smaller than the Midianite army. God instructed Gideon to tell the men that were scared to turn back and return home. 22,000 men left and only 10,000 stayed. Surely this was the number of men the Lord wanted in battle. Nope, God said it was still too many. God instructed Gideon to lead the men to the water to drink. Those that drank eyes down were asked to go home. This left Gideon with just 300 men. 300 men!! How could Gideon win in a battle with just 300 men? You see that was God's plan all along. He wanted everyone to know the battle was won because of his incredible power, not because of the army's power.

That is how I see adoption. If we do it all on our own and have an easy adoption, how will anyone know of God's hand in it? Eric and I may struggle, we may not have all that we need to complete our adoption right now, but God's power will be seen and we will rejoice.
